Wood

We have a wide range of exotic hardwoods to choose from! All are beautiful and equally worthy. A few of the woods that we work with are Cocobolo, Redheart, East Indian Rosweood, Lignum Vitae, Purpleheart, Zebrawood, Black & White Ebony, Osage, Curly Maple, Padauk, Pink Ivory, Olive, etc! We strive to keep a range of woods available in our handles at all times.

Please note that wood naturally ages over time! If you purchase a vibrantly colored wood handle, such as Redheart, we suggest keeping it in a dark sunless place when it's not in use to prevent premature fading. Even the most carefully treated and coated wood will fade dramatically over a week if left to sit in full sunlight!

Handle Type

Do you like full, long handles? Medium handles, that do well with a smaller grip? Short handles, held between the fingers? Or do you like short handles with attached swivel finger-straps, fun to swing and easier on the wrist? For the long and medium handles, consider if you'd like an eyehook (metal ring) in the top, for ease of hanging.

Handle Shape

Our handle shapes are very unique! We go with the flow - of the wood, that is. Handles aren't planned as much as felt out of the wood as we work. We pick a length, and from there we go where the wood takes us.

Leather

The first thing to choose when considering a leather flogger is the type of leather. Cowside is our most chosen type, being thinner but sturdy with a nice slap and sting; it also comes in the widest array of colors. Bullhide is thick and strong, the best for thuddy floggers. Elk is thick but supple and silky, a great sensation. Goat is half as thin as Bull but heavier than Cowside. Deerhide is light and soft, great for 'mop' floggers - very luxurious. Suede is dense and velvety.

Color

Color can make or break a flogger, aesthetically. The most common choice is black, which all types of leather come in. Cowside comes in most every color possible, including neon and metallic shades! Bullhide and Deerskin are available in basic colors ('natural' plus red, blue, purple, etc).. Deertan Cow is available in 'natural' plus limited basic colors, depending on the tannery. Elkhide and Goat are available in 'natural' tones (black, brown, cream, golden, gray, white, etc).

The number of colors of falls is also up to you. A single color is our most common choice, while up to four colors can be used. (Note that all four colors must be available in the type of leather chosen; it's not recommended to mix and match leather types, as it effects the swing of the falls.) Another option we have is to dye the grain (smooth) side of your choice of colored leather black; this is a more expensive option, but it really makes the color pop when combined with details such as woven falls!

Tips

Tips make a difference as well - square is our default shape. Rounded are a bit gentler and lend toward a thuddy flogger, while pointed or angled add sting, and forked are the most sadistic!

Braided and Woven

Mystery Braids and Woven are unusual, and not just for looks - depending on where they are placed, they can change the flavor of a flogger. On just the tips (or intermittently throughout the fall), it can add sting. Alternatively, when the full fall is done in either style, it creates a very thuddy feel.

Grommets and Rivets

Grommets (left, shown in black) and Rivets (right, shown in silver color) can also be added to the falls of your flogger. We can put them at the tips, spread out, or all along the falls. We can do brass-colored, silver-colored, gunmetal-colored, or black.

Decor

Beautiful decoration can make a piece unique and personalized. Perhaps painting, such as the runes on the right, or wood-burning, on the left, will catch the eye?

Rabbit Fur

Interested in a fur flogger? We can do that! Fur floggers can be pure fur, or half fur and half leather. We offer two basic fur types; natural or dyed. Below is a range of some of the colors available - natural on the left, dyed on the right.
